Ladies Team News – 24th July
On Sunday 20th Camilla Mc Loughlins Revive Active Team played Donabate in round 4 of this prestigious competition.
There were 2 matches in Skerries and 2 in Donabate, Donabate had home advantage in the event of a tie. We got off to a great start with Gemma Jennings and Lizzie Hughes winning their home match 6 and 4. In Donabate, Sarah Jane Mc Nally and Sheila Mc Loughlin had another 6 and 4 victory. Following the loss of Jen o Loughlen and Ciara Boylans match it was down to Fiona Farrell and Noreen Giblin to help us secure a place in the Quarter final. What a match we witnessed, the very strong Donabate pair played extremely well leading the match all the way to the 17th hole. Fiona and her opponent both made the green in 3 shots and with the Donabate player having a shot we waited nervously as Fiona putted out for a birdie. Her opponent in an effort to finish the match pushed her putt past the hole and failed narrowly with the return. This took the match up the18th and after 3 great shots to the green, Noreen secured a half with Fiona putting for the win. We now progress to the Quarter Final where we meet either St Margaret’s or Howth Golf Club. This match is scheduled for this weekend. 94 clubs have entered this competition and we are now down to the final 4 clubs.
Well done to the Team who have worked so hard to get to this stage of the competition .
