Mens Interclub Team News – 15th July

On Saturday 5th July, Skerries played Malahide in the 3rd round of the Barton Cup.  Having lost both away matches, we needed a clean sweep at home to win overall.  We were up in 2 home matches and with the 3rd one in the balance, we were hopeful we could pull it off.  However, Malahide gained a point in Skerries on the 17th, which was enough to give them an overall win.

The men’s committee would like to thank Karl Tracey and Graham Brereton for the tremendous work that they put into this year’s Barton Cup team.  They developed a very strong panel and supported the development of our very talented junior players.  The organisation of the practice matches, the ongoing communication and continuous encouragement were extremely well received by all on the panel.  Thank you, lads.  The club appreciates it and we are confident that with the foundations laid this year and the pipeline of exciting players in Skerries we will make further progress in the coming years.

Barton Cup Home Team : Neil Monaghan, John McDonnell, Miley Plunkett, Jacob Cardiff, Padraig Kiely and Calvin Kinsella with Barton Cup Team Manager, Karl Tracey.

Barton Cup Away Team : Keith Hickey, Liam Woodcock, Gavan Farrell and Barry Sexton

Unfortunately, that concludes the involvement of Skerries men in Interclub golf for 2025.  Overall, we’ve made very good progress.  Getting to the closing stages in these competitions is a challenge but we’ve made great strides this year with the development of our panels.  We look forward to 2026 with optimism.
