Golf ball going into golf hole
One Club Structure (Part 2)
The One Club Structure focuses on the administration of our club. By dissolving both the Men’s and Ladies Clubs, we eliminate the need for three AGMs each year, consolidating all formal business into a single AGM.

This change should make it easier to encourage volunteers to participate in sub-committees of the Committee of Management (COM) and working groups, rather than on a Club committee. The Golf Sub-committee will handle all golfing matters, benefiting from the synergy of men and women working together, leading to effective and innovative management of golf within the club, without the current duplication of two club committees.

A united approach should present new opportunities for our club and facilitate the development of attainable goals and relevant policies for golf in the club. Golf competitions as we know them will remain the same, but there should be more opportunities for fun joint competitions in our club.

The Junior Subcommittee will remain in place and will report directly to the Committee of Management through the Chair and Hon Sec. This ensures that we maintain focus on our important Junior structure, keeping its profile high within the management structure, with a view to enhancing activities with coaching plans and more for our junior members

Pinehurst Format – Sunday 23rd

This Sunday (23/03/24) we will use the Pinehurst Format off White tees:
  • 2 person team format
  • At every hole both players tee off.
  • The two partners walk to the golf balls, however then they switch balls for their next shot i.e. Golfer A hits Golfer B’s ball, from where B’s tee-shot came to rest and Golfer B plays Golfer A’s ball, from where A’s tee shot came to rest.
  • After each plays their second shot, the partners compare the results. Which golf ball is in the best position? They select that ball and pick up the other.
  • From the third stroke on, play alternate shots until the ball is holed.
  • The third stroke is played by the Golfer whose’ second shot was not chosen.
  • Handicap: 50% of each player’s Playing Handicap.
  • Scoring: Stableford points
