Inter Club update – 18th June

Senior Cup Team Narrowly Miss Out After Thrilling Contest

The Ladies’ Interclub season continued last weekend with the Senior Cup team taking to the fairways against Forrest Little Golf Club.

With matches getting underway an hour earlier at Forrest Little, Skerries found themselves under pressure after losing one of the away matches. However, the second match provided plenty of excitement, with Muireann Bagley producing a memorable moment by holing her second shot on the 17th to extend her match to the 18th. Unfortunately, a half on the final hole was enough to give Forest Little the victory in that encounter.

Attention then turned to the home ties in Skerries, where the team produced an outstanding display of golf. Two emphatic victories, by margins of 7&6 and 6&5, put Skerries firmly back in contention and left the outcome resting on the final match.

Despite a tremendous effort, it was not to be Skerries’ day. The loss in the deciding match meant that, by the narrowest of margins, Skerries bowed out of this year’s Senior Cup competition.

The standard of golf throughout the day was exceptionally high and a pleasure to watch. The team can be immensely proud of their performance and fighting spirit.

A sincere thank you goes to Fiona Farrell together with Ciara Boylan and Mary Kenny, for all their hard work, dedication and support of the team throughout the campaign.

Interclub Action Continues for Skerries Golf Club

There is plenty of exciting interclub action ahead as Skerries Golf Club teams continue their campaigns over the coming days, with several important fixtures on the horizon.

Managed by Martin Coleman and Brídgeen Coyle, the team will have two pairings playing at home in Skerries at 3.30pm, while two pairings will tee off away in Roganstown at 2.30pm. We wish Martin, Brídgeen and all the players the very best of luck as they get their campaign underway.

All five matches will be played in Castleknock Golf Club, with play scheduled to commence at 4.10pm. We extend our very best wishes to Maire and her team and hope they enjoy a successful outing.

We encourage members, family and friends to get behind all of our teams over the coming days. Your support is always greatly appreciated and makes a real difference to our players as they proudly represent Skerries Golf Club.

Best wishes to all players and management teams. We look forward to following your progress on the Smart golf app.

The players now turn their attention to the next challenge, as the Senior Foursomes team takes to the course on Thursday, 18th June, when they face The Island Golf Club. We wish them every success.
