The 4th and 16th greens are on temporary greens for an extended period, this is due to them being badly affected by the fusarium scaring made worse by the micro environment created by shading from the surrounding trees. In order to allow some recovery these greens must be rested to remove wear and tear from footfall which would make a bad situation worse.

Temporary greens are on approaches and are not cut below 10mm so they are always going to be quite long looking and be slow. It would take months of preparation during the growing months on these areas and extra materials would be required to be purchased to bring them to a good standard. Which would take up valued time and money.

The frequency of cut on these areas is once a week this time of year, but this is dependent on weather and ground conditions. As of late frost and soft ground conditions has not allowed for any cutting to take place of any areas of the golf course as cutting would cause excessive damage to the turf.

Competitions will resume on the Front 9 from next Tuesday 14th January
