Dear Member,
We are honoured to have been selected as Captains to represent Skerries Golf Club for 2025, in this the 120th anniversary of its founding. We would like to wish all our members and friends a very Happy New Year. We would also like to extend a very warm welcome to our visitors throughout the year.
As Captains, we are ably supported by the Men’s & Ladies Committees and by the Committee of Management, without whose dedication and commitment, the Club would not function. We would like to express our deep appreciation and thanks to all the volunteers who give of their time and energy for the benefit of Skerries Golf Club. We are delighted to hear from anyone else who may be able to help in any small way.
We offer our best wishes to Hilda Cussen and Peter Counihan as Presidents of our respective Clubs. We would like to wish our Junior Captains, Oscar Farrell & Chloe Burgess, and all our fantastic junior golfers, the very best for a great golfing year in 2025.
Skerries Golf Club is a superb parkland course, which is kept in great condition thanks to the hard work and professionalism of our Course Superintendents and Greens keeping staff. However, ALL members and visitors have a major role to play in ensuring our course remains in pristine condition. We need each and every player to bring a divot repair bag to ensure that all divots are repaired and filled, all bunkers are raked after use and pitch marks are repaired on the greens. Please observe the appropriate etiquette for buggies and use fairway mats when required. Please leave our course in the condition that you would hope to find it!
If we are to thrive as a Club, your support for our Club Professional, and for our catering and bar facilities is paramount. Whether it is golf lessons or the latest golf equipment, talk to Bobby Kinsella. For all your catering requirements contact Mizan and his team. Remember, this is our Club.
We look forward to a great golfing year and wish all our Teams every success in 2025. Our overall Team Managers, Neil Monaghan and Geraldine Neary have set their targets on a range of Golf Ireland competitions and we encourage members to come forward and represent their Club.
We will endeavour to represent Skerries Golf Club to the best of our ability and we would very much appreciate your support.
Finally, we wish all our members a wonderful golfing year and the health to enjoy it.
In the words of the great Bobby Jones, always remember – “Golf is the closest game to the game of life. You get bad breaks from good shots and you get good breaks from bad shots – but you have to play the ball where it lies”.
Yours in Golf
Lady Captain Deirdre O’Neill and Captain Michael Weldon
