One Club Structure (Part 1)
Previously, we conducted a survey among members regarding the concept of One Club. There seems to be a positive response, so in the coming weeks, we will provide updates on what One Club could look like for Skerries Golf Club. These updates will be followed by an information evening, leading to a Special General Meeting later in the year where members will vote on the proposed structure. This decision will be entirely up to the members. Transitioning to a One Club Model is our choice.
Golf Ireland are asking clubs to consider the One Club model. Their vision is:
“The One Club Model Framework brings together the men’s and women’s clubs or sections to form a single administrative structure for club golf, ensuring both games are treated fairly and equally. This also guarantees that the rights and entitlements of members are determined by membership category and not by gender.”
What does this mean for us? Essentially this will mean the dissolution of the Men’s and Ladies Clubs as we know them. These will be replaced by one Golf Subcommittee, of the Committee of Management (COM), chaired by joint Captains which will report into the COM. Its remit will be the running of all aspects of Golf in our club.
